How to Use Boil Off Calculator

Follow these steps to start the calculation

Main Panel

  • Enter the Number of Components present in the mixture ( Minimum 2 and Maximum 10 )
  • Enter the Total number of Mols fed to the Boil Off Vessel
  • Enter the Number of Operation Steps to be simulated (Minimum 1 and Maximum 10 ).

For example, For first hour of Boil Off, Vaccum of 500 Torr is applied and Mixture is boiled off at the rate of 50 Mols/hr, Then this first hour becomes Operation Step 1. Now For second hour Boil Off is done at atmospheric pressure of 760 Torr and boil off rate is 30 Mols/hr , Then this will become second Operation Step. In this manner Maximum 10 Operation Step can be defined in this application.

Input Data Panel

  • Select Component from the List
    • Select Component Number from Drop down menu, eg. Comp 1.
    • Select the Chemical from the List
    • Press the Select Button
    • For the second Component select Comp 2. from Drop down menu and repeat the above mentioned steps.
  • Or Manually Enter the Chemical Properties in the Table
    • Enter the Component Name
    • In Xi Column enter the Component mole fraction
    • Enter the Antoine equation parameters A,B,C for the equation
      log10(P) = A-B/(T+C), where P is in Torr, T is in degree C.
    • If Non-Ideal liquid behaviour is to be considered then enter Liquid Molar Volume, Vi ( in cm3/gm-mol ). Enter the Wilson interaction parameters in (cal/mol).
  • Select whether Ideal Vapor & Liquid is to be considered OR Ideal Vapor & Non Ideal Liquid is to be considered.
